Research Projects at the Utah Cancer Registry
UCR encourages research use of Registry data for the purpose of determining the incidence and etiology of malignant neoplasms and/or evaluating measures designed to eliminate, alleviate, or reduce the impact of cancer. UCR collaborates with many researchers to facilitate cancer research. If you are a researcher or patient interested in obtaining cancer data please see our Access UCR Data page.
The UCR participates in cancer research in several different ways:
- Routinely-collected data are used by Registry personnel in descriptive studies of cancer in Utah, both for national publication and for public health use by agencies such as the Utah Department of Health.
- The UCR joins in cooperative studies by agencies such as the National Cancer Institute.
- UCR data are used by Researchers across the nation for all aspects of cancer research.
- Registry personnel assist public health officials in their investigations of possible cancer concerns in Utah communities.
