North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR)

In 1998 NAACCR began awarding gold and silver certificates to recognize central registries that consistently achieved the highest standards in data quality, timeliness and completeness. During the last 10 years, 1998 through 2007, UCR has received 9 gold certificates and 1 silver certificate.


Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program at NCI

In 2002, the SEER Program began awarding a Registry Data Quality Profile (DQP) Award to the top three SEER Registries. Each registry was judged against other SEER registries on quality indicators such as: case completeness, reporting delay, completeness of follow-up, annual audit results, number of cases reported by death certificates only, and percentage of unknown data. UCR has received one of the highest awards every year from 2002 through 2006.

Additionally, in 2002, SEER began awarding individual coders as well as entire registry coding and quality control departments Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards for overall data reliability. UCR staff have received awards and recognition every year from 2002 through 2006.

National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA)

NCRA provides national certification for individual proficiency in all areas of cancer registration. Currently, UCR employs eight NCRA Certified Tumor Registrars.
